Monty, Live!

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

I’ve posted before about live music on Second Life, and now I can show you some. Montavious Peccable was a neighbor of mine when I lived on Darkstar. He’s still a good friend and an awesome musician. This clip was made at a club called Nadima’s Magic Bean (as in coffee bean) on Happy Clam Island, one of my favorite music venues. No, I don’t appear in the video, but some of my friends do. :-)

Starry Second Life

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

This is for everyone who doesn’t “get” Second Life. Normally I wouldn’t post YouTube videos because they’re generally an enormous waste of bandwidth, but this one involves three things I really like: Second Life, the art of Van Gogh, and the song “Vincent” by Don McClean

Living in a Painting

So, call me mushy; I was moved to tears. But, this is the sort of thing that you can do in SL if you have the motivation.

I think Don Imus is a dolt.

On the other hand, I’ve always thought Don Imus was a dolt — way before this whole flap started — and I think the same about most talk radio hosts. Even Air America Radio makes me cringe, and you can’t get much more liberal than AAR. It wouldn’t make me the least bit unhappy to see them all go away; DJ’s are the principle reason that I don’t listen to the radio, either talk, news or music. Give a guy a microphone, and he begins to think that everyone is entitled to HIS opinion.

HOWever… I have a question.

I realize that there is a dearth of Black, Hispanic or Asian talk radio hosts with huge audiences out there, but what if, say, Al Sharpton started making unfunny jokes about white girls? (Ghods forbid!) Do you think he’d be fired from his show? Would there be an out-pouring of outrage and hate mail? Or, would he be given a pass because of his race?

(I have been told — in no uncertain terms, by a minority person — that minority people cannot be racist regardless of their opinions, and that white people deserve to be disrespected. Um, I dunno, me.)

So, if Al Sharpton is entitled to his opinion by the rules of Free Speech, shouldn’t Don Imus?

Just sayin’…

Coulter under fire for anti-gay slur - CNN.com

Really? And, they’re just noticing it now? Which gopher hole has CNN had its collective head stuck in lately?

Li’l Orphan Annie says it was just a joke, her usual excuse for saying mean, stupid things. A bit of advice, Annie, honey: leave the comedy to the professionals. Your timing sucks.

I wouldn’t worry about being sent to rehab for using the word “faggot.” At least you won’t be lonely; you can share a room with one of the folks who applauded and laughed at your tasteless “joke.”

I may be forced by the Constitution to defend to the death your right to your opinion (and the right of the media to cover your shenanigans), Ms. Coulter, but nowhere is it written that I have to like or condone it.

Boy Killed By Float In Portsmouth Parade - WMUR.com, Manchester, NH

When this story was first reported last Saturday evening, the parade in question was a Christmas Parade. As the days passed, and the investigation wore on, the parade became a “holiday” parade.

Hmmm. I guess the Christmas Parade didn’t want its image tarnished by a 9-year-old killed during a traditional celebration. Suddenly, it’s OK to be wished Happy Holidays.

Tell that to the kid’s parents.
